About MixTape Drinks: Helmed by California-native and self-proclaimed beervangelist, Chad, MixTape craft beer has made its mark on Saigon after being founded in 2020. While MixTape is currently in the process of finding a new location, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy their brew all around town. A few signature favorites include a hoppy Peaches & Cream (NW IPA), a crispy OLE! (Mexican Lager), a hazy California Sun (Juicy Pale), and a roasty Molly (Milk Stout). If you’re open to trying something else after testing MixTape’s craft beers, go for one of their alcoholic hard iced teas—ParTeas—to keep the party going!

About Malt Saigon: Located in District 1, Malt Saigon is the ideal neighborhood pub to enjoy a delicious pint. In addition to a fully stocked bar, they have a fleet of craft beers on tap including plenty of IPAs, Ales, and Lagers. If you want the full experience, try the bar’s shuffleboard, order their signature Poutine, and get yourself a craft beer tasting flight which includes any four flavors in 200ml glasses for 295k total. Afterward, if you want to enjoy cocktail and some food with a nice view of the city stop by Zion Sky Lounge and Dining.

About Pasteur Street Craft Beer: When it comes to craft beer in Vietnam, Pasteur Street is a must try. With 15 taprooms across the country (3 in Hanoi, 12 in Saigon), any time you visit you’re always going to receive a glass of top-notch craft beer whether it’s inside the historic Grand Hotel Saigon, located in the labyrinthine Japan Town, or overlooking the city’s skyline. Pasteur has over a dozen core beers, as well as a rotation of seasonal options, including lighter drinks like their Bia Chanh Muoi, bold flavors with their Nitro Irish Stout, or arguably the best on tap: the American-styled Jasmine IPA, complete with floral and herbal notes to smooth out its bitterness. If you stop by the Xuân Thủy location, make it worthwhile and take the day to explore around Thảo Điền.

Since 2016, HoD has released hundreds of beers and brought home numerous international awards including multiple wins at the Asia Beer Championships. About 7 Bridges Brewing Company: Set on the edge of Japan Town facing Lê Thánh Tôn street, 7 Bridges is a great place to meet up for happy hour with friends or coworkers. 7 Bridges prides themselves on incorporating the best ingredients to create their own beers. A couple standouts include the Mekong Dragon, a pink sour featuring dragonfruit and a touch of passionfruit and the Trời Ơi, a smooth Irish stout served on nitro. You should also try their Good Morning Vietnam, a unique collaboration with Hong Kong’s Yardley Brothers that combines coriander and cucumber for a citrusy, sour finish. Lastly, 7 Bridges’ main mission stems from the belief that great beer should not only taste good, but do good. Whenever you buy one of their citrus rice lagers called Earth Beer, they donate profits to various tree planting programs throughout Vietnam.

About Hoa Viên Craft Brewery: Established in 1995 as the first microbrewery in Vietnam, Hoa Viên Craft Brewery has been pushing the craft beer scene forward for over three decades. Their goal ever since opening has been to provide the best beer in accordance with the famous criteria of Czech Republic beer. To create their signature Hoa Viên lager, Hoa Viên imports all of their ingredients from the Czech Republic. From there, the beer is brewed without any filtration or steaming, and no additives or chemicals are added. If you’d like a few different beers, they also serve their own Dark Lager, IPA, as well as import the original green and gold labeled Pilsner Urquell. With low, foldable chairs on the ground floor as well as a pool table and multiple couches upstairs, there really are no bad seats in the whole place. If you choose to go at night, make sure to try some of their delicious craft beer. Signature options include their sweet Bông Kia Sên Beer and their bitter Platinum Gold Ale. In addition, they have a few special beers such as their citrusy Platinum Keller, their sweet and tart Toucan Guava, and their refreshing Toucan Golden Pilsner.
