Perched fourteen floors above the bustle of Hàm Nghi Street is a place where spring feels like home. Where glamour glides in and out in droves. Where pinkish, bluish, and purplish hues shine brightly before a panoramic view of Saigon’s skyline. Since 2020, Zion Sky Lounge & Dining has traveled to award-winning lengths to cultivate a specific vibe—one that makes guests feel they are somewhere glamorous and cosmopolitan as well as warm and welcoming.

We arrived around 9pm when Zion was just warming up for the night. Upon passing through the elevator doors and down the hallway, I spotted the rest of the District 0 team at our table. The saxophonist was making his rounds, strutting past the stage, the high seats, and VIP tables, playing a tune which imbued the atmosphere with a sense of luxurious relaxation. Guests were dressed to the nines in every direction. Donning sharp blazers and sparkling dresses, stylish groups and couples clinked their bespoke cocktails together, making new connections with different people, and enjoying the view of downtown Saigon. Bartenders shook silver tin mixers over their shoulders while the rest of the staff guided guests to their respective spots. Everything seemed to be moving steadily. Not too fast, not too slow.

As I looked out at Saigon’s skyline for a moment before returning my gaze to the lounge, the energy inside Zion matched the cosmopolitan energy of the city itself. Saigon’s notoriety has grown exponentially in recent years, resulting in people visiting and even relocating to get a taste of the big city feel in Vietnam. Inside Zion, there appeared to be people from all over too, all of whom were basking in the prestige of a rooftop lounge just across the street from Bitexco Tower. A few moments later our table was greeted by warm staff carrying plates of food and cocktails. Sashimi tacos, fried shrimp balls, and a charcuterie board filled with cheeses, cold cuts, fruits, and skewers with the Zion shapes logo at the end of them. This spread of food paired with an ongoing fleet of cocktails featuring a range of colors, flavors, and styles made me feel like an established guest on my first visit. Each drink arrived with its own distinct visual flourish, some with fresh juicy fruit, others garnished with tropical flora. With each sip we sunk deeper into Zion’s vibe.

Part of what makes Zion Sky Lounge & Dining feel so intimate is the interior design. The space balances dark stone textures and polished metallic accents with the glow of golden lighting hidden beneath the seating areas. Plush seating booths offer hidden alcoves for private conversation, while elevated high-tables, like the ones we sat at, ensure that no matter where you sit, your line of sight remains free to enjoy the glittering skyline. However, if there is one detail that stuck out to me the most, the piece of the puzzle that I feel symbolizes the place’s vibe is the floating pool above the bar. The rippling patterns of water suspended in the air have a soft, captivating essence, as if it’s only natural to have a pool of water there. Dwelling in the right place, the soft but powerful water provides a sense of depth by reflecting its surrounding flow dancing in the light. As the bartenders work beneath it, the aquatic refractions bounce off the bottles and glassware, casting shimmering displays onto the ceiling. By breathing life into the space, the floating pool at Zion asks its guests for nothing more than to glide with it and join the dance.

At the Sky Lounge’s full capacity, the venue can host nearly three hundred people. Whether it's a birthday, a corporate celebration, or a bachelorette party, there is plenty of room for guests to feel like they have enough space to enjoy some privacy or to mingle. They have spent years building a reputation for putting on a show for guests, whether that’s with popular local artists or international DJs. The next time you visit, you'll see how as the night goes on, the atmosphere shifts from a relaxed dining lounge to an electric nightlife venue. The lighting dims, live performers step onto the main platform, and the crowd moves in front of the stage, drawn to the dancefloor by the rising tempo of the music transitioning from jazz to house. Beyond their daily sunset happy hour, Tuesday’s “Meet Me at the Bar” ladies night, or their “Beats and Bites” showcases every other Saturday, Zion keeps its calendar dynamic with a constantly rotating roster of monthly themed parties and special events. Any night of the week at Zion is going to provide an elevated, energetic experience.

Later on when leaving the refined sanctuary fourteen floors up from Hàm Nghi Street, the vibe of Zion stays with you. It’s as glamorous and cosmopolitan as it is warm and welcoming. Your memories will likely be filled with the people you met there over drinks, the music you danced the night away to, or there’s a good chance your eyes, like mine, will keep returning to the floating pool suspended above the bar. It speaks to what Zion does best: creating a space where you can effortlessly shift gears, take in the view, and enjoy the lounge’s vibe on your own terms.
